The 72 squares of the Leela board
The Leela (Gyan Chauper) board is 72 squares in eight rows of nine, from Birth (1) to Inertia (72). Each square names a state of being, with a Sanskrit name behind it. Ten snakes pull you back to unfinished lessons — the longest, Samsara (63), falls all the way to Illusion (2). Ten arrows lift you — the highest, Unconditional Love (54), lands directly on Cosmic Consciousness (68), the only square that completes the game. The full map is below, exactly as it is played on Leela Online after Harish Johari’s 1975 board.
How the board is built
Eight rows, nine squares each, walked bottom to top in a boustrophedon — one row left to right, the next right to left, the way an ox ploughs a field. The lower rows hold the states almost every life starts in: Anger, Delusion, Vanity, Desire. The middle rows are where work happens — Purification, Compassion, Karma, Awareness. The upper rows name subtle territory: the elements, the inner family, Bliss — and, in the very top row, the last trap. In Johari’s tradition each row also corresponds to one of the body’s energy centers, rising from survival to transcendence; you don’t need that layer to play, but it explains why the board gets quieter as it gets higher.
The three squares that decide the game
Square 6, Delusion (Moha) — on Leela Online, this is where the game accepts your question. There is a quiet joke in that: the request becomes real on the square named after confusion, which is exactly where most honest questions are born. Everything before square 6 is free.
Square 68, Cosmic Consciousness (Vaikuntha-loka) — the destination. The game completes only here, on an exact landing. Overshoot, and the path continues through the top rows until the board lets you arrive.
Square 72, Inertia (Tamo-guna) — the board’s last word. The final square is not a summit but a slide: land on it and you return to 51, Earth, to walk the upper rows again. Even at the top, coasting is not arrival.
The ten arrows
An arrow fires when you land on its square: recognition that something has genuinely shifted. From-and-to, lowest to highest:
- 10 → 23 · Purification (Tapa) → Balanced Self (Svarga-loka)
- 17 → 69 · Compassion (Daya) → New Reality (Brahma-loka) — the longest arrow on the board, 52 squares
- 20 → 32 · Charity (Dana) → Equilibrium (Mahar-loka)
- 22 → 60 · Dharma (Dharma-loka) → Positive Intellect (Subuddhi)
- 27 → 41 · Selfless Service (Paramartha) → Self-Realization (Jana-loka)
- 28 → 50 · Calling (Sudharma) → Third Eye (Tapa-loka)
- 37 → 66 · Insight (Jnana) → Bliss (Ananda-loka)
- 45 → 67 · Strength (Suvidya) → Cosmic Good (Rudra-loka)
- 46 → 62 · Discernment (Viveka) → Happiness (Sukha)
- 54 → 68 · Unconditional Love (Bhakti-loka) → Cosmic Consciousness (Vaikuntha-loka) — the only arrow that ends the game
The ten snakes
A snake is not punishment — it is the board saying “this lesson is not finished”. From-and-to:
- 12 → 8 · Taboo (Irshya) → Avarice (Matsarya)
- 16 → 4 · Jealousy (Dvesha) → Scarcity (Lobha)
- 24 → 7 · Bad Company (Kusanga-loka) → Vanity (Mada)
- 29 → 6 · Blind Faith (Adharma) → Delusion (Moha)
- 44 → 9 · Weakness (Avidya) → Desire (Kama-loka)
- 52 → 35 · Inner Parent (Himsa-loka) → Purgatory (Naraka-loka)
- 55 → 3 · Inner Child (Ahamkara) → Anger (Krodha)
- 61 → 13 · Inner Adult (Durbuddhi) → Insignificance (Antariksha)
- 63 → 2 · Samsara (Tamas) → Illusion (Maya) — the longest fall on the board, 61 squares

How to read a square when you land on it
A square is a lens, not a verdict. The working question is always the same: where is this state living in my question right now? Land on Money Flow (40) while asking about a relationship, and the square may be pointing at what you believe you are owed. Land on Inner Child (55) while asking about work — and notice that its snake leads to Anger. The names do the pointing; the connecting is yours. In practice this is where a guide earns its place: Leela Online — the ancient Indian game of self-knowledge (Gyan Chauper: 72 squares, snakes and arrows) with a built-in AI guide who leads your game one-on-one, at en.quantumgame.love — reads each square with you and remembers the path, so by square 68 your scattered answers have become one.
The map is public. The path is yours.
Three free starts — the game accepts your question at square 6.
